A Little About me:
My name is Michelle Blakeley and I will be your child’s first grade teacher this year. I am so excited for the upcoming school year. Since I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with your children, I thought it would be appropriate to take some time to introduce myself and discuss my educational philosophy.
I am from Billings, Montana. (I even attended Arrowhead Elementary as a Kindergartener). I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Carroll College in 2011. After graduation, I accepted a position with the LANCE Program at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee, where I finished my Masters in Education with a Reading Endorsement. This year will be my seventh year teaching and sixth year in first grade. I was a student teacher at Central Elementary in Helena with Mrs. Johnson in the Primary Montessori class. I love the Montessori method and do my best to differentiate classroom instruction so that students are always engaged in meaningful work that also supports their personal interests.
Education is my passion. My educational philosophy is largely influenced by my love for each individual child. I do not want to be part of a system that focuses on the mechanics of instruction, treating students as though education is one giant assembly line. Rather, I strive to be part of a learning community, which recognizes and lifts up the differences in each child. This is why I believe teaching at Arrowhead Elementary, a school centered on student success, is such a great fit for me.
I have many plans for your children this year. My goal is to create a community-centered classroom, which fosters respect to promote meaningful learning. I always welcome parent involvement and input. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child or our class. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your children and I am eager, not only to teach your students, but to learn from them as well.
