We had so much fun finishing up our story re-writes of The Three Little Pigs. Students will have a published hard-back book with their stories and illustrations to share by the end of the year. Students will have a guest teacher and I know they will be wonderful listeners and learners while I am gone.

We should also be finishing chapter 1 in our go math series this week and move on to chapter 3 (for sequencing purposes ) addition strategies.
Book It!
I will be sending home the October Book It Calendar in Tuesday folders this week. Please put this calendar on the refrigerator and record how many times a week your child reads to you (aim for 4-5 nights a week). At this point in the year it is ok to read to your child or split the time spent reading. Please see this as a small incentive to read at home. Good readers are always reading and re-reading text to become better readers. Simply sign the calendar at the end of the month and return it to school and your child will receive a coupon for a free personal pan pizza at Pizza Hut!

Well I am excited to announce all the fun learning we have in store for this coming week. First, students will begin our first Wonders Unit, where the focus question is, "What do you do at your school?" We also have some guest teachers coming in to observe an interactive writing lesson. These are teachers in the district that are doing their primary literacy training and our class was selected to demonstrate the wonderful learning strategy of interactive writing. Interactive writing is a lesson where students and I work together to write for different purposes. I am so proud of this group of students and I know that they will do a wonderful job of modeling this strategy. In math we will continue with addition strategies in chapter 1 of Go Math as well as continue to build number sense. Each and every week your learners impress and surprise me in new ways. I must say I absolutely love my job and your amazing students! Have a great week everyone! :)
